Dropping Hints

I'm really not usually this bad, so that is why I'm posting this and the previous post. But a situation I found myself in last night MUST be posted. For the past few weeks I have not done any real grocery shopping other than costco staples and a few other things. Needless to say, we've been eating out a lot lately. Well, last night I finally cooked dinner. I don't know what Isaac was thinking I was doing in the kitchen, but when I came in the living room and said, "okay boys, it's time for dinner!" Isaac perked up and asked with bright eyes, "where are we going, mom?" I couldn't believe it had gotten THAT bad! His happy countenance quickly changed once he realized exactly what the combined look of shock and dissapointment meant on my face.

One of my favorite past quotes of his was over a year ago we were eating chicken nuggets for lunch at the table at home and he looked at me with a smile and wide eyes and said, "I've got the idea! We make our own food!"

Today he asked me to make him a jelly sandwich. In my usual joking sarcasm I asked, "Who do you think I am?" He replied, "A mother."

Isaac is getting pretty good at dropping hints these days.

Ha ha ha ha ha! You may be a heart breaker, but you sure know how to make me laugh! Or at least Isaac does. I suppose it would have been just over a year ago that we wanted to cook something at your house, but found there was no flour. As in, you had never before bought flour in your life. :) I love that you're cooking more these days, if not so much these last weeks. "A mother"!! I love that.

He is quick - that Issac!

One night a few years ago when we were all sitting down to a dinner I made Kelly said, "this is actually good" which means that usually it isn't! My kids would love if I cooked less!

O.K., give me that Isaac and no one gets hurt. He is so funny!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one on strike these past few days. The problem with cooking isn't just preparing the food, it's the time cleaning up.

Too bad being a mom includes so many duties...I would love to have someone else be the cook. It's really not one of my favorite things to do!

Yeah, I just know it's time to start cooking when my kids lose any enthusiasm for happy meals ($1.29 on Tuesdays here, which is t-ball night and baseball night). Recently Tom found out that as a student he could get $7 1 topping large pizzas from Papa John's. So anytime when we were talking and I said "I don't know WHAT to make for dinner"--and that happens often-- Tom would suggest that he could bring home some pizzas. We've eaten more pizzas in the last 3 months than I can count!

I'm so glad you document these things. They are priceless! I love hearing about them all!! Not only is everything that comes out of Isaac's mouth adorable, but it makes me feel more normal too!!
